Aston Martin AMR24 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Picture from YouTube video posted today by the team. Is it the new monocoque? Radiator angle looks more "flat" than last year, what do you guys think?

Not sure about "very different"

That sidepod inlet looks wide, high with an underbite just like the AMR23.

However it does seem to suggest the impact structure moved to the floor with deeper undercut (like other teams) IF this is AMR23

Note that the angle change could mean that it looks different in the Bts pics

there are 2 side impact structures on each side. upper and lower. Most teams position the upper one somewhere behind the inlet area and the lower 1 in the floor. They already had one positioned in the floor last year.

Could be a perspective issue or the general blurriness, but it looks like the angle of the radiators changed a bit.

Also the yellow seems more "golden" than last year just like the hints they've showed us

The lime green looked golden last year too. It's just how they edit their photos.

I'm pretty sure this is the underbelly of the concept car they keep. Unfortunately I couldn't find any photos, if anyone can find them send them here so we can make a comparison. I repeat, however, that I am sure it is the concept.

Is there any particular reason why would they still keep and work on a concept car at this point?

Even with all the news from other teams circulating lately, this car remains for me the most intriguing to watch. A huge amount of grey matter behind its design and a wide range of possible outcomes.

Re: the car pictures in the back of shot on some of the preceding posts. I doubt this car is the AMR24; mostly because these videos were probably shot a few weeks ago and I don't know why they'd have the car fully painted/wrapped what amounts to probably 3-5 weeks before launch. I would bet we haven't seen any of the car yet. Of course I could be wrong but logically it seems odd.

Rear is shared by mercedes customers

A big secret is being kept about the rear of the car. At the front axle, the FW46 remains true to the proven pushrod concept. "We don't want to reveal what we're doing at the rear yet," regrets Vowles. This is not only due to the fact that the transmission and rear axle are sourced from Mercedes and they do not want to pre-empt their technology partner. Apparently there are far-reaching changes at the rear. Our gut feeling would suggest a switch from the pullrod to pushrod concept, as used by Red Bull, McLaren and Alpine. But perhaps Mercedes has also unearthed something completely new, such as a rocker arm solution.
