Renault R31

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Now for the close up comparison shots between the RB5/6/7 and this car on the rear end, both from the top and from the side. Another V-nose, which is rather interesting. And... are those RW endplates sculpted?

Is it just me, or does it look like the ARW will work by sliding the upper element down? Must be just me because that can hardly be allowed can it?

I thought the rules were pretty explicit in that the pivot was at the trailing edge.

Not allowable as per the rules for safety reason, in case of failure of system.

Then it is just me. Probably the sculpting of the end plates that makes it look like that.

So they have a V-nose and Pull rod rears...where is the innovation that Renault were blabbing about?
More could have been done.

Would love to see a back to back with the R30. It's really hard to compare it in my head because of the new paint job.

Lowest nose cone so far. Is it the most changed, do you think? Cockpit area looks kinda similar...

It's innovative for them, I guess.
