HRT F111 Cosworth

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Is Base doing the KERS project wholly inhouse or are they funding an outside supplier to produce the system?

Who knows, but either way, it wouldn't look like a 2012 car, so it wouldn't be usable for this kind of photoshoot.
The one they used is even less like a 2012 car. What aspect of the 2010 HRT is not 2012 looking? They had periscopes, low nose and smooth sidepods. With the Photoshop addition of a cut out in the RW endplate it would be perfect.

That definitely looks like a force india : that cut-away on the top of the sidepods was the signature design feature of their 2009 competitor.

Im thinking that Hispania bought a tub off of Force India for show car purposes. Force India have a long history in selling cars off after 2 years for this purpose. They only keep 2 of the tubs working from each year for the past 5 years.

At present they still have all but one of the Midland MF1 tubs, 2 of ther Spyker/Force India F8-VII/F8-VIIB/VJM-01 tubs the two VJM-02 tubs that didnt get trashed and the two VJM-03 tubs that didnt get written off last year as well.

Its quite a decent bit of buisness that the Silverstone team do as they sell most of the tubs off in fully working order (Minus engine, cooling and electronics systems) for arround £300,000 a piece to private collectors or motorsport museums.

However id recon that their new owners could be looking for the team to have a showcar like more or less the rest of the grid.

I think this Hispania showcar car could be one of the VJM-02s that was trashed, posibly 03 that was witten off after Quali at Silverstone when Sutil crashed at Abbey in Q2. Lets face it, Team Lotus are using old Toyota TF104s and TF105s for showcars.

I also think it's a showcar, but it is a bit unusual to choose 2009 model, bearing in mind that Lotus has showcars from 2005 and Virgin too.

Could be used as a basis for the car ...

^^^ Brings me to the thought that they may be reverse engineering the VJM/02 to bring them up to speed for next year. Posibility???

I which case the will want to get it right rather than spending on another slow car. The FI may not be race winning material but the extra data is reasonably fresh and importantly from the almost current set of regulations.

bless them. by the looks of the picture above, HTC are so hard up that they even put a set of used pirreli tires on a presentation car. the surface looks ok but the side walls are quite worn. Either that or a bad pic and to much tire shine spray!
