I haven't been analyzing laptimes so far. On short and long runs, how much advantage are we talking of here? Everyone seems to say RB is a long-run demon
I don't think it's a head-to-head at all. Renault needs an experienced driver to lead the team. I think it was Nick's seat to lose (as already stated in AutoSport) -- and he has done nothing to lose it. Senna will have to do something like FTD AND be super smooth to have any chance to even be considered.

Nick also brings to renault... his experience in racing.. and during testing it is something that is really important... and also he can give good finishes in a car that performs...

Also Renault have a good program for the coming year... so he was the obvious choice...

Bouillier said the oposite.
It was going to be Heidfeld if they did well. They needed an experienced driver to develop the car now not a roockie.
If Heidfeld was good they would sign him directly if not they would ask a different experienced driver(s) to come for the next test days

Hulkenberg to AMuS:

Second corner:
- Red Bull: early on throttle, stable throught the whole corner, stable during accelaration
- Toro Rosso: Has to back off in the next lefthander, less stable, more understeer. Getting worse every lap as the tyres go off.
- Marussia Virgin: Very bad understeer, blocks the inner front wheel during braking, suspension settings are "bruatally stiff"

Chicane:
- Mercedes: Rosberg attack the curbes heavily. He likes the balance of the Mercedes
- Toro Rosso: well balanced
- Virgin: Glock wrestling the car through it. Stiff suspension. Has to brake 5 meter earlier than other cars
- Ferrari: unstable under braking (could be due to KERS). Best car in high speed corners.
- Renault: Petrov takes a different line through the chicane. Sounds like 'damaged' engine

Two corners before chicane:
- Renault: almost no understeer, but instable rear under braking
- Mercedes: stable rear, but a lot more understeer
- Ferrari: understeer, but early on the throttle. Even when unstable easy to drive. Looks faster than Mercedes
- Toro Rosso: wobbling rear

Fast lefthander:
- Ferrari on a different line than Mercedes, but Ferrari looks a lot faster. Mercedes seems to be heavier though.
- Sauber: nervous rear end
- Toro Rosso: Alguersuari uses the kerbs on the exit, meaning he has confidence in the car as a little understeer will put you off track.

Final corner:
Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren are all stable under braking, and the drivers are early on the throttle The three are quite close together in the same league.

Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

From those angles the mclaren really does look to have a lower nose/chassis height relative to the others, great pics btw :)

Probably a coincidence, but I have the impression that when drivers stop on track they seem to favor places most distant from the pits :)

There can be a few reasons why – e.g. if the problem happens near the pits they may try to slowly return to pits, but maybe they are trying to spoil other's programs as much as they can :D (just a joke!).

The RB has a higher ride height in those pics. I'd be worried if I was the other teams if the RB is quick with ride height reduction to spare...
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

I don't know if it is the camera angle but the Renault seems to sit very low compared to the others.

How does a team like Macca come to a test with not enough equipment? I mean really? They skipped the first test and now had to cut this one short to wait for parts? Sounds more like a HRT tatic than a Macca.

Meh. Things break. Sometimes the spare breaks, too.
