Lot of slow corners, long straight and cold weather - R31 should be upfront IMO. This car was going as crazy through slow corners in Sepang, was one of the quickest at speed trap and has built-in rear tyre heater :)

So my DRS prediction came true! Not the pit straight, but 902 m before turn 14.

Slightly off topic here, but is F1.com's weather forecast reliable? Half of last year they were always predicting wet races, and even a dry race for China. Showed T-storm forecasts for Sepang too

Check the qualifying sector times. McLaren were relative to red bull slow in the first sector, fast in the second sector and roughly equal in the third. Notably, sector 2 is dominated by fast corners, sector 1 is dominated by straight line speed, and sector 3 is a balance of the two.
OK yeah i see your point, it's just i was hoping someone had apex speeds, not sure how we lost those this year...
Sorry to bring this up again, and probably in the wrong thread but i was looking at this analysis and it shows that taking best sector times Vettel was quickest on #2, Lewis took #3 and #1 was basically the same for both

Interesting – So Vettel managed a very fast sector 2. However, using the same stats, Hamilton made up most of his time against Webber in sector 2, and some in Sector 3.

Meanwhile, compared to pretty much any other car, the McLaren and RedBull together are *significantly* faster than all other cars through the middle sector. Against Alonso for example, Hamilton is 0.18 faster through sector 1; 0.28 faster through sector 3; but 0.45 faster in Sector 2.

The assumption that RedBull is the sole car dominating the high downforce sections of the track seems not to hold as true as it did in 2010.

Qualifying showdown - China 2011

Post

So who do we think will get pole in China? The Mclarens are really hustling the Red Bulls now. I hope we get another Malaysia quali.

What do you lot think?

I think this would be better discussed in the China race thread...

the Bulls are not any quicker than Macs in absolute speed which is really cool and surprising news.
But again we will see a LotusRenault spoil this party ...
No RedBull win this weekend and maybe not even a podium.Heidfeld is my dark horse (realistically he will come home second only..)
