Schumi - Tyre changes make sense

Yesterday was Michael's last working day before his well-deserved holiday. An appointment with his partner Deutsche Vermögensberatung will take place in the late afternoon, and after that, the seven-time world champion will settle into his winter-break.

Michael Schumacher "I'm looking forward to a couple of quiet days, but it's also nice that I get to meet up with the Pohl family once again before that. But it's a bit of a shame that I am going to miss the opening of the exhibition "The Face of Pace" in Munich's "Pinakothek der Moderne" tonight, I would have liked to have seen Michel Comte's pictures of the Scuderia Ferrari.“

But Michael never completely gets his mind off Formula One, and he naturally didn't miss any of the issues that were discussed over the last couples of days. "I don't think anyone will be surprised to hear that I welcome the fact that Max Mosley was once again appointed president of the F.I.A.," the Ferrari-superstar said. "Max always takes the time to listen to us, the drivers, and has been especially supportive during the last couple of months as we tried to make Formula One safer. He is always interested in our concerns and always strives to keep Formula One together and calm. Speaking of calm: I have the impression that some of my statements have been misinterpreted lately. I've said plenty of times that I don't think it's beneficial to keep changing the regulations and that I will advocate not changing the rules every year. However, his does not mean that I wish to criticise the new rules. Most of them are very good I think. Allowing tyres to be changed again is a big plus in regard to safety. We'll have to wait and see what to make of the new qualifying system, but also the instalment of V8 engines is absolutely sensible for safety reasons in my view.“
