The Brawn GP team has fallen off the top since they won the first six of the seven races of the season, and since the British GP it has been Red Bull and surprisingly McLaren who challenged them for victories. Now the team is rushing to get their BGP001 to make proper use of its tyres, as that has been the main issue since they introduced some updates a few races ago.
"It's true that the opposition has got a lot stronger but in the first part of the season we were getting the most out of the tyres and, unexpectedly, we've had problems there. It's certainly related to some modification which we've introduced during the year so we are analysing exactly every step we've taken to understand what has caused this problem," team principal Ross Brawn told the Italian 'Gazzetta dello Sport'.
"I would be more comfortable if we had been able to do some testing. But this is a challenge which the regulations impose this year," he added.
