Silverstone sees another Red Bull front row after an impressive run by both its drivers. Sebastian Vettel put in the quick laps when it counted, while Mark Webber is a close second. Fernando Alonso is the closest competitor in third place.

Just as on Friday, qualifying is held in cloudy but hot conditions. Bridgestone was even experiencing serious heat problems with their tyres. Red Bull appeared to be on form so far this weekend, as well as Alonso and the McLarens.

The drivers are initially hesitant to get out on track after the start of Q1, but it finally is Buemi and then Schumacher who start the running after 3 minutes of engine silence.

After switching leads between Webber and Vettel, it is eventually Vettel who remains on top of the timesheet after all potential winners return to the pitlane. Button however is still unsure and returned to the track later on in the session to put in 6th fastest.

In the closing stages, Schumacher, Hulkenberg are in the danger zone, while Alguarsuari, Kovalainen and Glock are the quickest of the men provisionally eliminated. That situation didn't chane in the final seconds. This eliminates Alguersuari and all as of the new teams.

Contrary to Q1, the second session kicks off with lots of track action, and surprisingly the McLarens are already on the option tyres. Both Red Bulls and the Ferraris are still using the harder tyres. The McLaren looks particularly hard sprung as it visibly jumps on each and every bump.

As Red Bull take the lead again, Ferrari is on form as well with 3rd and 4th fastest times. Michael Schumacher is 5th fastest. A struggling Hamilton managed to go into 7th but his teammate is out in 14th position.

Renault isn't particularly well on the pace either, as only Kubica manages to go through seting the tenth fastest time.

Button is therefore out with Sutil, Kobayashi, Hulkenberg, Liuzzi, Petrov and Buemi.

In Q3, both Ferrari drivers are the first ones out, quickly joined by Hamilton and the Red Bulls.

After 5 minutes, Vettel is fastest, 0.063s ahead of Webber. Alonso is folowing, with Hamilton 4th, Rosberg 5th and Barichello 6th. Michael Schumacher meanwhile hasn't set a time yet as he has used 3 soft sets already and will have just run a single stint on new option tyres. He's entering the track three and a half minutes ahead of the session's closure.

On their second attempts, Webber is the first to cross the line and fails to improve his lap. Vettel though does shave another bit off of his time, securing another pole position.
