Lewis Hamiton and Sergio Pérez have been handed a three-place grid penalty for this weekend's inaugural Indian GP for ignoring yellow flags, triggered by Pastor Maldonado's engine failure close to the end of the first free practice session this morning.

Both men set their fastest time of the session, with Hamilton taking P2 and Pérez moving up to 14th in the closing stages. At that time however, double yellow flags were waived at Turn 16 as Pastor Maldonado's Williams had come to a halt with engine problems.
