To celebrate the Monaco Grand Prix and the premiere of Apple Original Films’ F1 The Movie, debuting in theatres worldwide next month, Apple Maps users can now enjoy a new Monaco Detailed City Experience and custom updates of the glamorous principality that is synonymous with F1.

Apple promises that "users can explore Monaco including 3D Monégasque landmarks, such as the Monte Carlo Casino, Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, the Monaco Yacht Club, and F1 Paddock Club in Apple Maps. Dark mode also gives users an evening view of Monaco in a moonlit glow that activates at dusk."

The Detailed City Experience also features in-depth details for road markings, trees, and public transit routes, as well as helpful navigation details like turn lanes, medians, bus and bike lanes, and crosswalks. It also features a windshield view for drivers, which shows a road-level view as a user approaches a complex interchange making it easier to see upcoming traffic conditions or the best lane for an approaching exit.

In time for the upcoming Grand Prix de Monaco, which takes place between May 23-25, Apple Maps is also offering users, attendees, and Formula 1 fans an in-depth way to explore and enjoy the race.

The racetrack will be highlighted in Apple Maps and includes details like markers for each of the circuit s iconic turns, along with 3D representations of grandstands, footbridges, the finish line, and more. Apple Maps will also share advisories like road closures to help attendees get around as easily as possible.

In celebration of next month’s release of Apple Original Films ’F1 The Movie, Apple Maps users can also explore a custom guide featuring the world’s most iconic F1 racetracks, including Monaco and other tracks featured in the upcoming film.

Commenting on the announcement, Ian Holmes, who serves as Chief Media Rights and Broadcasting Officer at Formula 1, said: “F1 The Movie is set to be truly immersive, and Apple is taking that one step further, enabling fans to dive into both Monaco and the film locations through Apple Maps.

"They’ll be able to navigate the principality during the iconic FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAND PRIX DE MONACO 2025 and hunt down key landmarks in Monaco and the race, to truly feel part of the action ahead of the film’s launch at the end of June.”

Reflecting on the announcement, Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, stated: “Apple Maps is the best way to navigate and explore the world, so we’re excited to bring this amazing experience to F1 fans and attendees of the Grand Prix de Monaco.

"Whether fans are there in person or watching from afar, the beautifully designed Detailed City Experience and Monaco Grand Prix features give them an incredible view into Monaco, just in time for the race and the upcoming premiere of F1 The Movie.”
