Ferrari had to change a raft of elements on Hamilton's SF25 after his crash in FP3

Ferrari have confirmed that they were forced to change multiple elements - including the gearbox - in Lewis Hamilton's SF-25 after the Briton suffered a high-speed crash in final practice at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton looked strong in final practice, but he suffered a crash at the end of final one-hour practice. The seven-time world champion whacked the barriers at Massenet on his final flying lap of FP3, bringing out the red flag and causing a premature end to the final hour of practice running.

The Briton hit the wall hard at Turn 3 on the approach to Casino Square with two minutes remaining. The Briton may have been caught out by a slow Mercedes and Haas as his car would have been affected by dirty air.

Following the incident, Ferrari confirmed they have made significant changes to Hamilton's car in time for qualifying.

The nose, front wing and right front suspension has been replaced, while the entire rear-end, including the gearbox has been repaired.

Confirming the changes, a Ferrari spokesperson noted: "On Lewis’ car we changed the nose, front wing and right front suspension.

"We also replaced the entire rear end, including left and right hand suspension and gearbox as this is a quicker procedure than simply changing the damaged right rear suspension."
