Vasseur hails Ferrari for best qualifying performance in 2025

Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur has praised his outfit for having made inroads after a tough qualifying session on home soil at last weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
The qualifying session saw Ferrari and McLaren battle it out for the top positions for Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix. Home hero Charles Leclerc set the benchmark in all three practice sessions, but McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri closed in on him come qualifying.
In the end, Norris snatched pole position, setting a 1m 09.954s to deny Leclerc, who had briefly held the top spot. Championship leader Piastri ended up third after a messy qualifying session for the Australian.
His team-mate Lewis Hamilton ended up fourth in qualifying, but he was found guilty of having impeded Max Verstappen in Q1 for which he received a three-place grid penalty.
Reflecting on the Scuderia's best qualifying performance in 2025, Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur has praised his outfit for having made inroads after a tough qualifying session on home soil at last weekend's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
"For the first time this season, we managed to put everything together in qualifying, and doing so here in Monaco makes it even more rewarding. The team did a very good job today and we were competitive right from Q1.
"However, there’s a bit of frustration, as Charles had been quickest in every session, but he still delivered a strong performance and came very close to pole. Lewis also did a great job of rebuilding his confidence after this morning's crash.
"But unfortunately he will have to start from seventh. In general, we can say we've made good progress compared to previous Saturdays. Now we need to focus on the race, where the goal will be to put pressure on McLaren. We’ll focus on ourselves and prepare for tomorrow’s challenge," concluded Vasseur.
Charles 🗣️"It should be an interesting race tomorrow. There will be strategic games between the teams with the mandatory two-stop."
