Lawson: “Everything came together nicely this weekend”

Having recorded his best qualifying and race result with Racing Bulls at the Monaco Grand Prix so far in 2025, Liam Lawson hailed the Faenza-based outfit's strategy and intra-team cooperation for the double point-scoring finish at Monte Carlo.
Isack Hadjar impressed with his one-lap pace in Saturday’s qualifying session. The Frenchman secured a sixth place on the grid for the 78-lap Monte Carlo race, but he gained a position after a three-place grid penalty for Lewis Hamilton.
The Frenchman received great assistance from his team-mate Liam Lawson, who created a gap that allowed Hadjar to complete his two pit stops without losing any places.
His team-mate Lawson started from ninth on the grid, and made up a place thank to Fernando Alonso’s retirement to leave Monte Carlo with an eighth-place finish.
“It was a great result for the team, and it’s always nice to come away with points, which isn’t the easiest around Monaco,” Lawson started his review. “Having both cars finish in the points was exactly what we needed.
“Everything came together nicely this weekend, and we executed the race perfectly. The strategy made sense for us today, with both cars qualifying well and showing strong pace throughout the weekend.
“The two-stop format didn’t make a huge difference for us, it can create more opportunities but today’s race played out fairly straight forwardly.
Signing off with a word for the forthcoming races, Lawson commented: “The pace has been there for a few races now, so it was good to show it this weekend.
“Looking ahead to Barcelona, we’ll aim to keep the momentum going. It’s a very different kind of track, and we will need to get on top of the regulation changes, we will need to adapt as quickly as possible."
