Emerson Fittipaldi's son is set to race in Formula 2 in 2026

In 2026, Emerson Fittipaldi Jr will make the step up to the FIA Formula 2 Championship with AIX Racing, becoming the third driver to step up to Formula 2 from Formula Regional.
Emerson Fittipaldi Jr, the son of two-time Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, is currently competing in the Eurocup-3 Championship.
Formula 2 team AIX Racing has recently announced Fittipaldi will make the step up to the FIA Formula 2 Championship in the following season.
From 2020 to 2021, Fittipaldi was a member of the Sauber Academy, and in October 2022, he was a finalist in the Ferrari Driver Academy’s Scouting World Final.
Fittipaldi joined the GRS Team during the 2023 Eurocup-3 season ahead of the sixth round in Estoril. He would join Palou Motorsport for the final round in Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where he scored a point with tenth place during the first race.
In 2024, Fittipaldi raced a full season in Eurocup-3 , teaming up with MP Motorsport, and he continued to race for the Dutch team this year.
Reflecting on the announcement, Fittipaldi said: “I am very much looking forward to this opportunity. Racing in the FIA Formula 2 is going to be a big learning curve for me.
"I will be competing against the best drivers in the world, so it will be an honour to be racing against all of them on the race track. My expectations are, that I will be learning a lot, every single day and every single week.”
