Formula E: Mueller claims maiden Formula E victory as Porsche marks 75 Years in style

Nico Mueller delivered the finest drive of his Formula E career to claim a long‑awaited maiden victory in the opening race of the Berlin E‑Prix double‑header, giving Porsche a landmark win on home soil as the manufacturer celebrates 75 years of motorsport.

The Swiss driver, competing in the team’s special “Pink Pig” livery, finally reached the top step at the 69th attempt after a tactically complex race shaped by PIT BOOST strategy and energy management.

Starting sixth, Mueller remained patient through the early exchanges as the lead changed hands repeatedly between Edoardo Mortara, Oliver Rowland, Zane Maloney, Nick Cassidy and Lucas di Grassi.

With the field tightly bunched and energy conservation critical on Tempelhof’s abrasive surface, Porsche’s engineers kept Mueller in contention by maintaining a small but valuable energy advantage over the frontrunners.

The race pivoted around the PIT BOOST window. While several contenders cycled through their mandatory stops, Pascal Wehrlein’s hopes ended with a puncture that forced him to pit early and dropped him to the back. Rowland briefly regained the lead after a late stop, but Mueller emerged with four percent more usable energy and six minutes of ATTACK MODE still available.

From Lap 28, Mueller launched a decisive charge. By Turn 1 on Lap 29 he had swept past Rowland, Mortara, Barnard and Maloney to seize the lead. Cassidy mirrored the move to climb to second, but Mueller’s pace and energy margin allowed him to stretch a four‑second gap that remained unchallenged to the flag.

Cassidy secured his first podium since Mexico City in second place, while Rowland completed the rostrum in third. Mortara finished fourth after starting from pole, but his consistency across the season now places him atop the Drivers’ Championship, just 14 points ahead of a tightly packed top four.

Jake Dennis finished fifth despite twice failing to activate ATTACK MODE, while Mitch Evans rounded out the top six. Porsche continues to lead both the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ standings ahead of Jaguar.

The second race of the Berlin weekend takes place on Sunday, with Mueller now firmly established as a victory contender after finally converting his season‑long pace into a breakthrough win
