Leclerc to race with fresh power unit component in Budapest
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, Racing Bulls racer Arvid Lindblad and Audi driver Gabriel Bortoleto receive fresh power unit ancillary components for this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.
Three drivers will start the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend with a new power unit ancillary component (PU-ANC) fitted to their cars, according to the FIA's latest power unit allocation document.
The changes affect Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls RB Ford) and Gabriel Bortoleto (Audi).
Each of the three drivers has now used their fourth PU-ANC of the 2026 season. Under Article B8.2.2 g) of the 2026 Formula One Sporting Regulations, drivers are permitted to use up to six power unit ancillary components during the championship before any penalties are triggered.
As a result, none of the three drivers will receive a grid penalty for this change.
The power unit ancillary component is a supporting element of the power unit package and is monitored by the FIA alongside the major engine components, including the internal combustion engine, turbocharger, MGU-K, energy store, control electronics and exhaust system.
Although it is less visible than the main power unit elements, teams carefully manage its allocation throughout the season to avoid unnecessary penalties later in the year.
For Ferrari, the change provides Charles Leclerc with fresh ancillary hardware as the team looks to continue its strong form at the Hungaroring after an encouraging start to the weekend.
Racing Bulls' Arvid Lindblad and Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto also remain comfortably within the seasonal allocation, leaving all three drivers free to focus on maximizing performance without any impact on their starting positions.
