The glass is half full - Kovalainen

While the Finnish Renault F1 Team driver, Heikki Kovalainen, could have done better without the refuelling rig problems, he just wants to remember the positive aspects of yesterday's Spanish Grand Prix.

Heikki, how do you feel about today’s race?

“In life there are two ways of looking at things. It’s whether the glass is half full or half empty. This evening I want to look on the positive side. I’ve scored my best result in Formula 1; we didn’t have any technical problems in free practice; both cars got into the top 10 in qualifying and the performance has improved in relation to the first races. But still, looking at things objectively, fifth place was on the cards today.”

Did the refuelling rig problems upset you?

“They modified my race plan. By changing my strategy and going to from two to three stops I had to drive flat out from start to finish. In these conditions I think I did pretty well. When you’re pushing really hard from the first lap to the last it’s easy to make a mistake. Today, the car’s balance was good, and I managed to get the maximum out of it without going over the limit. It’s another reason to be satisfied.”

A good pointer for Monaco?

“Yes, I can’t wait to drive an F1 car there for the first time. The team’s continuing to work hard and we’ll have some more developments for Monaco. We’re not giving up, that’s for sure.”
