Optimism reigns in the Renault camp

In the Principality of Monaco, that was the venue of today's Monaco GP, Carlos Ghosn, Alain Dassas and Flavio Briatore all reaffirmed their confidence in the ING Renault F1 Team. The difficult races will soon be but a distant memory.

The message is clear: the ING Renault F1 Team’s morale has not been undermined by a difficult start to the season and optimism reigns. That was the gist of what Carlos Ghosn (the Renault Group Chairman), Alain Dassas (the ING Renault F1 Team President) and Flavio Briatore (the ING Renault F1 Team Principle) reaffirmed in their various interviews with the international press this weekend.

“Of course, we’re disappointed that we’ve had a mediocre start to the season,” said Carlos Ghosn. “But the reasons for our difficulties have been identified so we’re reassured. And you’ll see, we’ll soon be back at the front.”

Alain Dassas underlined the progress made by the team since the start of the season. “In Barcelona, we saw that Renault was turning the situation around,” he stated. “This weekend Fisi’s performances in qualifying and in the race have been very satisfying. We’re continuing to work hard to overcome our problems and the engineers seem pretty confident.”

Flavio Briatore was in the same optimistic frame of mind after today’s grand prix. “Fisi drove a good race and got the maximum out of his car,” he explained. “McLaren and Ferrari are still a long way ahead but today we finished in front of the BMWs, which was our aim. We’re making progress and it’s encouraging with two weeks to go to Canada.”
