Schumacher again...
While the first qualifying session promised a close fight for the pole, there never actually has been one, resulting in both Ferrari's starting from the front of the grid for tomorrow's inaugural Bahrain F1 race. Both the Williamses were in front, with Montoya managing a best time in the first two sectors, but both then lost out in the last sector, giving them positions 3 and 4.
Kimi Raikkonen had once more a problematic start of the weekend. While on friday they already had to replace his engine after a fuel leakage that caught fire, the Finn showed to be in good shape with a third best time in qualifying, in front of M. Schumacher. However, in second qual, Kimi came back in the pit right after his installation lap, and will therefore have to start from the back of the grid.
Another remarkable performance came from BAR's Takuma Sato, who beat his teammate by 0.1 seconds for the first time even. Both BAR's will start from a 5th and 6th place.
7th is Trulli, driving a Renault that has problems keeping up on the long straights with an engine that is a little down on power compared to the other topteams. Trulli's teammate Alonso made two rather large errors, and will have to start the race just in front of both Minardi's.
Both Toyota's did excellent here in Bahrain, with an unexpected 8th and 9th grid position for Panis and Da Matta respectively. David Coulthard showed the McLaren needs some more work, since a really solid lap only got him on 10th place.
The grid continues with Fisichella and Klien, hereby beating his Australian teammate at Jaguar, Mark Webber, a thing that was never seen before.
