Shell Technical Briefing

As each circuit has specific fuel and lubricant needs, so does the upcoming Imola Grand Prix. Shell, the provider of Ferrari's lubricants and fuel anticipates on temperature and track characteristics. The following are the most important factors to take into account

Fuel
· Imola will be cooler than Bahrain
· A cooler mix of fuel and air will be denser than warm fuel / air mix, therefore more fuel and air can be burnt in each combustion resulting in a slight power increase
· Ferrari and Shell will continue to use Shell V-Power F1ULG58 fuel in Imola
· Although conditions are expected to be different from the first three races, Shell has designed the fuel to perform well
· The key to a quick lap at Imola is good momentum as the fast straights and slow and medium speed corners can sap speed. Therefore the car's weight will be an added consideration and teams will look to fill the cars with as little fuel as possible to avoid being out-dragged down to turns like Rivazza
· It is at key strategic decisions such as this when a fuel blend can
come into its own -offering the team a precious weight saving. This is exactly what Shell V-Power F1ULG58 has been designed to do for Ferrari.

Lubricant
· The Ferrari cars will continue using Shell Helix F1SL785 for the
engine and Shell Spirax F1L5361 for the gearbox in Imola
· Due to the low ambient temperature engine cooling is not expected to be a major consideration
· Imola is still notoriously hard on engines however and Ferrari will
be looking to the Shell engine lubricant to protect the engine for the entire weekend
