McLaren up their game as Schumi wins
For McLaren, the British Grand Prix was a confirmation of the potential of their new MP4-19B. Kimi Raikkonen, who started from pole position was able to finish the race second, in between the Ferraris of winner Michael Schumacher and a strongly driving Barrichello.
The Silverstone race saw the continue of a more exciting part of the season, where McLaren can now race against the best teams currently in F1. The new situation is good news for the sport, even more since Toyota will introduce their new TF004B in the upcoming German GP.
Renault on the other hand had a very hard race, with Fernando Alonso not getting into the points after having lost 10 places on the starting grid because of an engine change. Jarno Trulli seemed to be on his way to 5th place until he crashed heavily in Beckets. The Italian however could leave his car unhurt.
What followed was a safety car 22laps from the end of the race, which allowed drivers that were on a three stop strategy to quickly take their stops without too much disadvantage.
As soon as the SC left the track, Kimi Raikkonen was pushing very hard to pass Schumacher and got to 0.2 seconds behind the leader. As soon as the Bridgestones of the Ferrari got warmed up, all positions remained what they were until the finish.
