BMW hope to achieve its ambitious targets in 2008

Six day remaining to the presentation of the BMW Sauber F1.08: having established itself as the third force in Formula One, the BMW Sauber F1 Team fully intends achieving its ambitious targets once again in the new season.

"It is essential to clearly formulate ones goals and ambitions, not only for a team which is totally focussed upon winning, but for every team," firmly believes BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen. "Unless goals are clearly defined they cannot be achieved."

In its first two years, the BMW Sauber F1 Team has met, and in certain instances even exceeded, the stringent targets it set itself. "We defined our goals for the BMW Sauber F1 Team two years ago. To date we have managed to meet these; in fact, at times we have run slightly ahead of target," says Theissen.

Whilst 2006 was primarily aimed at amassing experience within the new team structure, the objective for 2007 was to achieve podium places on merit. In 2008 the team aims to close the gap to the frontrunners. "Now we face a major step, for in 2008 we intend winning our first race," summarises Theissen.
