Kimi overwhelms competitors to win

Kimi Raikkonen has again won a Grand Prix this season. The Finn won his 5th of the season with relative ease as he saw no one in his mirrors from lap 10 on. Spaniard Alonso took second place from JP Montoya in the last few laps as the Columbian got hit by a Jordan and missed turn 8 because of his broken diffuser following the spin. Juan Pablo finished the race third.

The result was in fact the best Renault could do as McLaren were clearly a lot faster. It seemed however that Renault was on par at the beginning of the race but as soon as they came in in lap 10 and 11 they lost places to McLaren.

Fisichella however got in front of Raikkonen during the start but had lost that place to Raikkonen again after turn 10 as he went a little bit wide. It was rapidly clear the Roman was slower than his teammate and consequently let him pass by.

After the first stops Alonso could only follow Montoya until however 10 laps from the end Juan Pablo started to slow down with a seemingly braking problem. When Montoya had just passed Monteiro 3 laps from the end, the Jordan hit Juan Pablo in the back. JP was able to quickly come back on the track only to find Alonso closely behind him. As if that wasn't enough, the McLaren driver went a little bit too fast in turn 8 thereafter handing second place to the Spaniard.

Fisichella passed the line in 4th place closely followed by Jenson Button. The Briton drove a good race and proved overtaking is quite possible on the Turkish circuit.

Few seconds after him came Jarno Trulli who drove somehow invisibly to 6th place.

For the other two points there were again the two Red Bulls who gained several places immidiately at the start. Both men drove a nice race but Coulthard was just a few seconds faster over the finish line then his team mate Klien.

The most annoying of all cars today must have been the yellow Jordans of Karthikeyan and Monteiro. First one of them held up Alonso who as a result saw Button pass him. After that, Monteiro nearly drove into the back of Albers' Minardi. He could however just avoid it and drove through the grass to return back on the circuit. The Portuguese however thought people might forget and hit Montoya in the back, this time for real.

Both Williams cars on their behalf also came into view as both of them twice suffered a rear right tyre puncture. For some reason there were no other punctures in the field so it is likely to have been something with the Williams chassis or setup. Both men had to give up eventually.

So did C. Albers and M. Schumacher. The Dutchman came in repeatidly with several issues, returning on track a few later but gave up 10 laps from the end. Reigning champion Michael Schumacher started to suffer problems after touching the Williams of Webber and only remained on the track to improve his starting position for the next Grand Prix which will be hosted at Monza in Ferrari country.
