Raikkonen tops first session at Monaco

The first free practice session of the glamorous Monaco Grand Prix was stopped by a red flag. A loose drain on the street track was the cause of the 15-minute long red flag situation. After fixing it, the session kicked-off again.

In this first session Scuderia Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen proved that he wants a Monaco victory on Sunday. The Finn set the fastest lap time and was followed by the silver duo, Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen.

David Coulthard wasn't able to put down a fast lap in his RB4 as he suffered what appears to be a throttle problem. Jarno Trulli and Nick Heidfeld were the only two drivers to touch the barriers during the first practice session at the narrow Monaco street circuit.

Trulli brushed up against the wall on the approach to the tunnel and broke his suspension. The Italian parked his car at the exit of the chicane. Nick Heidfeld too had to park his car as he damaged the rear of his F1.08.
