Although Mike Gascoyne already announced a couple of major updates for this week's Silverstone test, we were a bit surprised to see Force India with an extended engine cover. Similar to Red Bull and Renault, the team developed a windscreen that helps stabilise the car while cornering. The uprise of these designs can also be explained by this year's banning of traction control which tends to put the car more regularly under yaw than was previously the case.
And just when you think it cant become more ugly...
Hope with this new engine cover, they can close the gap with another team.
It's not just the engine cover, they have also redesigned the sidepods and the heat management. It's being discussed in the forum and I'll post it here in the coming days too.
Mike Gascoyne bashed the idea of the shark fin engine cover on the Red Bulls in F1 Racing magazine. He thinks it is more there to deflect attention from something else more significant in the same areas.
