Hey, apologies for not reading the entire thread, but does the height plays a role?
Lewis Hamilton's height - 174cm,
Stoffel Vandoorne's height - 177cm,
George Russell - 185...
Apparently not, according to Autosport https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/15388 ... in-bahrain

I could honestly see Alonso calling Toto...

Would be epic.
Now that would be fun!
Bottas will probably just walk into the ocean, if that’s the case

Here is RUSs opportunity. It’s a clunky fit but that’s just how it is; it’s very rarely smooth when your number gets called up.

RUS may not be familiar with this iteration of racecar but he has done something like 600 laps in Merc machinery since ‘17. He’s been in F1 pretty much 2 seasons now; in a zero-pressure car/environment and he’s been paired against mediocre teammates.

No more excuses. Slap some expectation on his shoulders, let’s see what you’re truly made of. It’s now or never.

Agree. I expect him to be near his out-and-out pace when qualifying hits. He should bare minimum lock down that front row together with Bottas. In terms of how close he should be is hard since the abnormal layout of the circuit. 0.1-0.15 is probably reasonable due to how short the track is. >0.2 and that's a failure imo. He might even at that point find himself off the front row.

Yup, it’s a weird layout; very few corners. There really shouldn’t be a great deal between teammates in the same machinery.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but can't Mercedes put Russell in the Mercedes this weekend, while putting Vandoorne in the Williams?

How bonkers would that be?

Most importantly, hoping for a full and speedy recovery for Lewis.
Welp, bonkers it is.

George can totally win the race if he can get into acclimating quickly. Car set up from last Sunday should work fine so they can probably fine tune and get him up to speed quickly. I'm sure it's possible for him to win. Why not.

Let's just see how he compares to Bottas and Max it will be a good peak into so many things.

1. How big of an impact is Hamilton.
2. How good is Bottas.
3. What is the true gap of the cars between RedBull and Merc.

I mean too bad for Hamilton but not a bad at all situation for the fans so we can get some data to compare the top 2 cars/& Max/Bottas/Ham with a good outside reference in George.

The way I see it right now is its gonna be Russell. This will be a 2022 shootout. I also see that Jack Aitken is favourite to get his shot in Williams, probably racing Fittapaldi, Latifi and possibly Giovinazzi.

Williams will see either free or a heavy discount for the two races.

Stoffel will be there for emergencies id guess. All that means is who will Campos get for F2, I suppose someone with some hard cash will take that seat.

Yes but is the pressure just on Russell? What happens if he outperforms Bottas and is very very close....?

There is pressure on both. I think less so on Russell, he'll not be expected to perform his very best with one run in the car, just achieve something close to the cars potential. For Bottas, he simply has to beat Russell, no excuses (other than car failure, more punctures, or maybe if the team fluff a pitstop).
