It is not worth the argument is it...

Kimi made an error and hit another car. It is as simple as that.

A racing incident..and you can bet DC was happy it was not him

Can we all just chill now and be happy that we had more overtaking at Monaco than we did at Montmelo!

Kimi is really a nice clean guy, and he could never do a cheap trick as many people are saying. It was just a racing accident due to cold brakes locking his car's rear tyres.
And except this incident he was never involved in to such kind of incidents where people have pointed fingers at him.

Thank you for the great link ´Carlos´, the two different views were very insightful. And so it is, a simple but consequenceful racing accident from Raikkonen. And what made the difference in all of this was that he took full responsibility and did apologize to Sutil for his mistake, these characteristics should be found in more men in more sports.

Regarding the Monaco race circuit, it is mostly used as a nostalgic spectacle for throwing off the proper championship standings, as it did this weekend. And as much as it ´svcks´ or entertains people, it seems to be in a safe place regarding its state in the Formula One calendar. Even though it serves as no significant performance measure for the seasons competitors, only as a lottery, which so many people have called it as. But if people want pointless entertainment, then they have it right here in Monaco...

OT, so should I PM you about your excessive posting ´WhiteBlue´? Since you prefer to be informed of ¨concerns and advice¨ privately. jk :)

bidzarfar, I answer your post because I'm a bit sensitive to being painted in dark colors publicly. if you are concerned and want to give me advise please use a PM instead of making public criticism!

this is not a scientific seminar but an internet forum designed to express opinion and share views and experiences. it isn't required to point out that we deal with opinions here all the time. it is implicit.

the nature of the object almost excludes that we talk facts here. all we have is a bit of video from few a perspectives. we have no testimony and real physical data like vectors, distances, speeds, aqcceleration and the likes from an accident recorder. also nobody to my knowledge claimned to be an expert. we are all just fans who like to chat about the sport.

I fail to understand why you attack me as cocky and over confident? isn't it far more unpleseant to make detrimental personal remarks, accuse someone, roll your eyes, raise a finger on him and fail to accept an apology for me not expressing myself to your satisfaction?

Think about it! As Ciro would say: attack the post and not the poster!

I look forward to your contributions of facts and opinons in an equal way and hope that we will not sink into a public personal appreciation dispute. such matters are much better communicated by personal message.
This is a PM (Personal Message) - tone down the arrogance - there are many more knowledgable people on this forum than yourself - you messed up once before dont mess it up again - this is a damm fine forum. [-X

This is a Personal Message.... :D

Thanks, Chap, you made me laugh hard... I'm still laughing once in a while.

I agree with Flynfrog, I've lost a couple of cars that way and I have not been able to avoid the tail from moving more and more with each oscillation.

Sorry, tinhouse, Carlos, I didn't read the entire thread before posting about the bump, you already have said that.

Thanks, axle, I didn't notice Sutil overtook under yellow.

Could not agree more, and applaud your courage in saying it. It is a circus, and a track that sometimes results in races that are a travesty. Spa under fire, Silverstone might disappear, and this event is sacrosanct? #-o

If F1 MUST have an event for the "beautiful people," then have a Kart race inside one of the Casinos.
Amen to that - although Forula 1 needs $$$ and the CEOs of the sponsoring companies will always want Monaco as a place to jolly their clients. Regardless of the fact that the race is either a procession or a crap-shoot it's still the flagship circuit in many peoples' eyes.

So yes it's annoying that the race will always be on the calendar purely so that a load of people with no real interest in the sport can park a yacht by the track and get wrecked on champagne but in the real world someone has to pay for all that R&D. And it's nowhere near as annoying as hearing Bernie carp on about pulling Silverstone because of the poor facilities and never even mentioning the ones at Monaco.

@ Ciro - glad we agree. I posted exactly the same thing on the previous page to your post.

Matt.

I have no problem with Monaco - to me its like the Oscars for the film industry or the Grammys for the music industry - its just a glamour weekend for F1 - I have no problem with that celebrate it for what it is and a small part of it is we have a GP there enjoy.

It has a very deserving history no less than Spa or Monza or Silverstone- Im pretty sure people wont be talking about Shanghai or Bahrain in 70 odd years from now - you cannot buy tradition certainly with a Tilke track - boring

I do feel for Silverstone and other places like Spa and even Monza it seems nothing is sacred and will be sacrificed for the almighty dollar - there is such a thing as a moral obligation although that very rarely enters into BCE's conscience does it. Anyway nothing will change that fact in the short term - anyone know a good hitman

Re: Monaco GP 2008

Personally I have no issue with Monaco as a race track, sure it doesn't conform to what a "race track should be" but that's why its so damn hard to win there. It's a real challenge for the drivers but in a different way to most tracks. Therefore I say keep it.

About the Sutil / Raikkonen incident. I kinda knew there would be a discussion about this, its such a damn shame for Sutil and Force India, and Bittersweet for me as I like them both (but the inscident cost Kimi points - good for Lewis.) I am however suprised to see how heated the debate is. Video evidence clearly shows Sutil lost the back end over the same bump as Kimi, he caught it, but this corrective manouver would have normally been nothing more than braking, as such for a small period of time sutil is catching a loose rear end and not braking, this then makes it likely that he is then approaching the chicane marginally too fast and he looses the back end under brakeing as seen by his input of opposite lock BEFORE Kimi hits him. Meanwhile Kimi looses the back end over the same bump, he on the otherhand was not able to hold it and his car fishtails into Sutil's car.

The fact that Sutil was already out of shape doesn't mean that it's Sutil's fault at all, in fact the cause of the accident is Kimi (but that's not to say Kimi is in the wrong). Belatti was purely speculating about what might have been if Kimi haddn't hit Sutil - would Sutil have actually negotiated the chicane successfully? Would Kimi have hit him regardless? We don't know.

Mike Gascoiyge's plea to have the stewards look at it was right on two ground:
1. Its his job
2. It;s true that if the roles were revereds Ferrari would be screaming blue murder

However this is not to say that Ferrari should be penalised for it, not so - its a racing Inscident, accidents happen in races, deal with it, that's racing.

I think its right that Kimi/Ferrari didn't get penalised, but I think its also right that MG had the balls to stand up and say the truth of the matter is the other way around, Ferrari would be doing the same thing as them, now that Force India do it its almost as if they should "Shut up, be quiet, and learn their place." I say Bollocks to that, well done MG for having the guts to say what needed to be said.

BTW...great race, enjoyed every minute of it, Poor Massa, thought he's got it early on, Lewis had a great dive - I mean 37second lead...WOW!

Instead of entertaining atavistic fantasies better catch him doing dirty tricks.

If you´re going to state your opinion at least know to keep your statements in subjective terms, and try to avoid the absolute way of things with your comments. Since it is nothing more than your point of view on the matter, and you do not have a clue as to what Ferrari would have done if the case were to have been the other way around.

I know that you probably didn´t mean it that way , but when one is reading it sounds a bit prudish and can be taken the wrong way. I apologize if I sounded rude in saying what I said.
