One of the weakest races from Lando in a while. Complete NPC the whole time and he made 3 mistakes into T3 that might have cost 4-5 seconds in total on critical moments. In any case, McLaren have drifted behind RedBull now and they only finished ahead of Ferrari with Piastri because for some reason Ferrari had abbysmal degradation here.

They have a lot of work to do. McLaren aren't really winning anything meaningful this season, but they have to set themselves up to be contenders again next season.

He started and raced with a brake problem though.

Ummm if the lead McLaren who's known to be the weaker driver on tire deg handily beats both Ferraris that started will ahead of him, then McLaren was clearly faster than Ferrari in this race.
Lando would have beaten Hadjar and likely Ham without his braking issues as well

I don't get the impression that the team is throwing everything at the goal of winning the championship this year -- unlike RBR last year for example. Sounds like they still taking a measured approach of doing the right things, the right way. Unclear if this is the right approach (maybe it is good to not panic) but hopefully there will be dividends in 2027

Wasn't it mentioned over the weekend that everyone (Mercedes Engine teams) except Norris had new upgraded battery components, so probably that played the part in his race struggles, if he had to use the new upgrades he had to take the penalties, they probably should have done it this weekend to have a very good one in next race.
