The W12 is kind of fast now.

I’ll take leading both championships at the summer break after what happened in Austria.

He Bottas may staying with Mercedes till Hamilton Retire. If I am the BOSS I will do this instead of getting into new problem with Ham vs Russel
Me too, but we don't know all the ins and outs
I actually think it’s the right time to bring Russell into Mercedes for 2022 and beyond. Hamilton will definitely retire on a high as the GOAT if he wins the championship this year and then the one in 2022 (regardless of his 2023 contractual obligations). Russell will be Hamilton’s wingman for 2022 only and then become the team-leader from 2023 on, unless Toto can pry Verstappen from RedBull for 2023 and beyond.

TBH unless Russell is a big flop for Mercedes, then I don’t think Verstappen is ever getting a drive there. Especially after the last couple of weeks.

If it doesn’t work out with Russell, they’ll do what it takes to get Lando.

Max would be foolish to put all his eggs in Red Bull's basket.

Also, if Toto still plays 5D chess, would be worth putting Russell in the car just for Spa such that Merc avoids the 5-grid penalty.

Can a team do that, thats an interesting one. if your driver gets a big penalty, replace him and start much further up. interesting.

There are permanent bedfellows. Public memory is very short. Anyways Mercedes have the dominant car for 7 years (7 LH wins) & the quicker car now in 2021 (certainly after the amazing Silverstone upgrade). Whether they will win or not in 2022 is a different story but they will likely be competitive at the very least. Russel would fancy a few wins. You never know how people react when victories come up.

Look at mild manner Mick today, fighting for points with superior cars. Look @ Leclerc vs Vettel !Russel Norris all will have their claws out the moment they get a winning car. I mean Bottas is Bottas & possibly Perez. Russel Norris Verstappen Leclerc etc are in a different tier to Bottas or Perez !

People in management are not like Internet fans of Hamilton. They look for profitability and whatever it takes to bring together best driver, they would do. Alonso wasn't liked by Ferrari in Schumacher days, but they signed him. He wasn't liked by McLaren after 2007, but they signed him too. So it's never say never.

Big question is, will Mercedes manage to make another "seconds a lap quicker car", in which case, they can put any driver from the grid and they continue to win. But if they don't and are just on par, then they would be desperate to bring the best driver on the grid if Russell doesn't deliver. If McLaren and Red Bull have on par cars, neither Lando, nor Max would be willing to jump ship! That would be very interesting scenario.

Bottas would just take his penalty at his next race. It's a driver penalty, not a team penalty.

No. Driver penalty is served at the driver's next race.
