With their floor working better, probably less drag for the same amount of downforce.

Only the mercs starting on the medium for tomorrow. That will make things interesting between Lewis and Max for sure
I wonder if that is out of necessity or choice by Red Bull?

Did they think Max needed to improve after he had already left on softs?

Or is it all about the start tomorrow?
He genuinely wasn't fast enough on the Mediums. Bottas did improve and was still 9th and did a faster lap than Max.
Interestingly Max said that they needed to avoid missing Q3.

While Horner said that they did this strategically for race

More Driver/Boss coordination needed 😂

It may even be wets
Current forecast for tomorrow is 93 F and sunny. Man, those Softs are barely holding on for a few laps, pace-wise. I don’t know how teams are going to stretch them on heavy fuel in those temps.
Maybe they are expecting a safety car first lap so they can slip in the pits? :?

Undoubtedly.

That said, recently, former Lotus team boss (and Merc customer) Matthew Carter explained that Merc had been trialing some more aggressive PU modes with Russell’s car in Styria (where he ultimately had to take new elements).

The inference was that those learnings were applied to further tweaks that debuted on the factory team in Silverstone.

Take with a grain of salt, but he’s been a pretty good source for intel before.

We know that they’ve been trying to get their ERS deployment right all season.

By the way, last few races, Bottas is super relaxed. I think he knows his time at Mercedes is over after this year and it’s pretty obvious this year isn’t going to be his 2016. Playing the perfect ream game instead.

I was thinking about this earlier today. Especially what he said about the booing. Not sure what to make of it though.

That’s a bit counterintuitive. Why would he be more relaxed and compliant if he’s being shown the door?

The dream of becoming an F1 champion at his current team is over. Inner peace comes often when you give in to reality and when you can relax, because the pressure is gone. He can go home on Sunday evening, have a good week, etc etc.

We don't know what deal he gets. It could be anything to staying on with Merc to being 'placed' by them in a car he wants to drive in any series or even 'backing' for something like rally if he wanted it.
Its like coming up to retirement with a good pension.

Plus, “fighting” Hamilton is one of the most stressful things you can do. If you can let that go, life is suddenly a lot more relaxed.

Based on his recent form on the track and also in helping to turn this car around i think he has earned his seat.

As for the car being very good now.. I am not so sure. Let's see how it runs on race days.
For Sure!!
