Good race!

The 2022 race will be epic here if the field tightens up with the new cars.
There isn’t a 2022 race in Qatar. And it’s likely 2023 will be at a different venue.

Circuit review; Qatar, yay 👍🏽 or nay 👎🏽 ?

Turn that system up and pump it all around the town
Keep the levels high so that you can feel my funky sound
Gotta get with my peeps and see what's goin' down tonight
Volume can't be low 'cause we need to turn it up just right

I expected it to be a procession but they were able to overtake even if just DRS on the main straight. The coverage didn't show the speed through the "T8-like" loop and the circuit looks quite similar all around the track which meant it was easy to forget where a driver is on the circuit. Many tracks you just know where the driver is almost instantly just from the background etc.

So a guarded "yay" from me.
Turbo says "Dumpster sounds so much more classy. It's the diamond of the cesspools." oh, and "The Dutch fans are drunk. Maybe"

I think I need to go over the race again. I loved the sunset and desert setting even though we have Abu Dhabi, we can really see it on this one. Felt more like a go kart circuit, you know?

The drivers seemed to love it.

I guess the main question is, how raceable was it? I think the kerbs were perfect, it should be like that everywhere; drivers should be afraid of pushing the limits outside of the track.

But was it as race-able as the results suggests? We had penalties, and jeopardy with failing tyres which mixed up everything. How would the complexion of the race have been without penalties and unexpected jeopardy? Maybe it would’ve looked a lot more processional then

:D He controlled the pace perfectly, Lewis's destiny is in his own hands and if he wins the next 2 races he'll be champion for a 8th time.

Best moment for me was Alonso asking Ocon to defend like a lion!
And Ocon side of the garage di pass on that message. Alonso is real team leader.
He knew Perez was coming for him and he also remembered what he did for Ocon in Hungary against mercedes, so Ocon had to return the favour against the Redbull.
For Sure!!

I didn’t like the number of tyres just going pop without warning. I’m sure I heard one of the Williams cars had only gone 25 laps on their hard tyres when the failure happened. Whether that’s the case or not I am not sure, but it shouldn’t be happening.

Mick got 34 laps out of the mediums on his second stint with a lighter car.
Mazepin managed 31 laps on the first stint.
Bottas' M went pop at 33 laps, keeping in mind the 3 laps from Q2, so rather a total of 36.

Latifi's H went after 32 laps, same tyre age as Russell's.

Norris' H also had an issue and that was after only 24 laps on that set - same lap count as Max and Lewis when they pitted for the second time.

"Ham back in the zone"...I do not think so, He never left! Ham and Max in the Merc and RB are the class of the field. Both of these guys consistently race/finish way ahead of their team mates. The ebbs and flows atop the charts I attribute to circuit specifics that favor one car over another or development tweak gains. The massive Merc motor manipulated by Ham seems unstoppable now...I sort of think that Toto was keeping this in his back pocket for just this eventuality.

Ah! Must have been Norris then. Thanks. Either way a bit of a worry. Two failures in Baku was two too many. Four here was many too many.

I do wonder if the tyre failures are from the curbs, or if there is debris broken of the underside of the wing over the curbs and damages the tyres. Even those very same sparks can be small fragments of carbon or metal.
For Sure!!

The serrated white curbs outside the red ones are definitely the cause
