Depends on what the overall downforce (drag) levels end up being. If skewed towards the low end, especially lower downforce rear wings, then DRS will be relatively ineffective. See Monza this year.

According to Jennie Gow on Twitter, the lap will be at around 79 % full throttle. Spa and Monza are at around 70. Insane.

Is it me or does the track look a little dangerous? High speed and very little in the way of run off.

Hope not of course and I’m sure much greater minds than mine have simulated everything.

Will people go for a minimum downforce set up here or is it not quite that simple?

Not directed at you, but I find it hilarious when old fans speak with rose-tinted glasses about the old-school tracks and the intrigue and danger of them, and now see some walls in the high speed sections and get so scared. 8) It is not even close to Macau with the brick-wall turns and escarpments! :lol:

The Jeddah turns remind me of Albert Park and bit of Baku. Barriers at high speed sections but the track is sufficiently wide and in places where cars won't try to jostle past each other.

The exact % is going to depend on what year was used for reference to generate the number.

Cars are on full throttle for 80% of the lap, and hit their Vmax on the circuit’s 1.1km start/finish straight.


Also qualifying vs the race will be a different number!

I've found the source, F1 Nation podcast, Saudi GP preview. The race promoter claims the track grip will be one of the highest of an F1 circuit.
