Mercedes W13 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Well... that isn't one of the FIA models (wing mirror connects slightly different) and it's not the W12.

Someone took a photoshop course, or the W13 had pushrod suspension.

Edit: someone online lighten the image, the steeringwheel has some text on it: "nice photoshop skills"

It's the FOM model, and there are two physical versions of it (+ 3 3D versions). This is the version that teams(Merc here)/tracks/sponsors bought (bottom) and it features several small differences compared to the launch model (top).

S-duct? Would it be legal?
As far as I can interpret, no.

The statement came from Franco Nugnes, 90% chance it isn't true. :)

Update | Mercedes refutes

According to Motorsport.com, Mercedes had failed the crash test for the new Formula 1 season, but Mercedes tells GPBlog that this is false: "We completed homologation several weeks ago." They did pass the test and have already received approval from the FIA and Formula One. Mercedes is therefore ready to present the new Mercedes W13 on February 18.

There are no lateral crash tests in F1.
Only static tests on anti-intrusion cone mountings to the survival cell.
Weeks ago, Mercedes had some problems with this. Alarm then returned.
On 18 Feb first 100 km of the W13 at Silverstone.

I think terms squeeze and crash are not to be used interchangeably in this context. So there's no side impact crash test, but some other test has been introduced this year that mercedes has failed (allegedly).

You could be right @Juzh.
Benson said passed all the crashtests ..... this includes the side-squeeze test, so I thought it is also a crash test.

They haven't failed them. Or if they did, they've subsequently passed them.

Another concept model. There are a few places where I am seeing that there is a possibility of S-duct, fed via nose. Is this still possible?
