Scuderia Ferrari F1-75 speculation thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Translation from tweet above:

Here comes the Ferrari F1-75 and it will be extreme

Tomorrow at 2 pm from Maranello, in an online event where the 'real' car will still be seen, the new Ferrari F1-75 that will participate in the 2022 world championship will be unveiled. As always happens in the last stage where the vehicle is set up, when the final parts, the final touches or simply the stickers, like today, the worry, the pressure, the curiosity, the excitement rise.

However, this concern does not concern a specific aspect: the power is there and it was important to work on a large component to improve its durability, at the expense of a slight delay in starting the car. Time will tell if they made it in full even if. If so, there would still be a plan B.

The technicians have long ago decided to be more aggressive in design, on the direction of some aerodynamic solutions. Some will see each other soon, if not immediately. From what it filters, the F1-75 looks like a pretty extreme car .

There is a lot of curiosity, on the part of the technicians of the Italian team, to see it in the slow, its real driveability in those parts of the track where it will be important to have guessed above all the right frame solutions rather than aerodynamics. The new weight balancing required a huge in-depth study, as well as continuous tests were carried out to optimize and improve the production of external materials with the budget cap. Above all, quality is in the way , previously well monitored internally, now moved off-site (suppliers have increased) and less controllable.

Then there is the yellow of the new suspensions, on which Ferrari has worked (and compared) a lot because "there is no much better solution, like in previous years" . The confirmation comes from the previous presentations where there is a total reshuffling of the solutions. McLaren opted for a total change with the front pull rod and the rear push rod, Alfa Romeo only at the rear (push rod). The others have remained faithful to the schemes used in recent seasons and are certainly better known. However, the three real top teams are still missing: Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari.

The livery will also feature carbon black to hide some technical solutions that are more visible at the rear on the track. In any case, we can expect reassuring red, those who did not like (like me) the orange red of 2019 will be happy. Confirmed the matte varnish .

It will be enough to wait a little to see it on the track. Only she will give the feedback that counts and will tell us if the long journey made to bring to light the 674 project will have given satisfaction and above all it will be successful. Winning has never been easy for Ferrari, they have won a lot but not often.

Will it be competitive? It should not be forgotten that we are at the beginning of a new technical cycle for which the road to truly understand the cars will not be short, but will last for months.

Of course, the judgment and criticisms on the work done will depend on the final level that the team will reach through Leclerc and Sainz. How strong or weak the opponents will be because , at least in the factory, the objectives have been achieved. Above all, Red Bull and Mercedes will give an answer.

And Rosso Nero… If the article is correct, the render making rounds with the back been black may be onto something

Talk has been about innovative and extreme solutions for some time now. I wonder how this will translate when viewed to laymen’s like me. Will it look markedly different to the other car launches and give hints of this innovative approach and extreme reference?

The article also seems to reference a lot of work being done comparing suspension solutions. Will be interesting to see where they land. Imo, suspension kinematics and tyre performance have been an inconsistency and ultimately a weakness for Ferrari, really since the end of the Bridgestone era.

They weren't lying about extreme. Can't wait to see a close up of those sidepods. The livery looks great too. It looks like a 2022 641. 8)

That looks like it could be it to be honest.

So it looks like Ferrari has gone for the HAAS/McLaren route and not for the undercut like Alfa/AM

Quite the opposite, it's the AM route with big undercut and long sidepods.

The livery looks great but the sidepods are looking a bit too 1991, how are they trying to accelerate the airflow towards the diffuser? There's no downwash and the undercut looks really small

I love that the sidepod inlets look small though and aren't those giant old school looking ones on Tuesdays cars
