The Mercedes is good in slow speed corners and is geared lower than most of the cars. It looks like it is still a mess and will require some time to get sorted.
I am with you on that. They either need some more effective setup changes or modifications to the floor. Try to maintain slow speed benefit but dramatically improve stability in medium-high speed corner. Most likely not for the first race but maybe by the third or fourth? Either way, genuinely don't think they will be in a shout for pole next week

Or the sound was very badly synced, but it felt like Russell had to wait a very long time to give it some throttle after the apex. In general it feels, from the onboards that rear grip is very low across the field.

HAAS 7 tents down from the first place on the same tire. Either they improved massively from previous years or this is not even close to the actual picture.

Man I really hope the merc isn't the fastest. Not even out of spite for them winning often, I just truly hope something that ugly isn't fastest
Sigh... All the shallow people calling something new ugly, but when it becomes standard it's beautiful. In which case the next thing becomes ugly.

Not same tire, Haas was on medium, Leclerc was on soft.

That's even better for HAAS I guess.

And Bottas with the Alfa Romeo 1:32.985 on medium too. Really promising.

Yep, in that sense, AT seems to be a bit disappointing so far. Expected more there. But of course, all the usual cautions apply ;)

I was watching the live timing comparing Russel to Norris and the Mercedes has 8 gears and the McLaren 7. Is this strange yes or no ?

HAAS did their time well into night time meaning a much faster track.

Red Bull done a 1:31:720. Looking pretty good but still a lot can happen in a week but they look like they are finding a good setup.

Red Bull look like they’ve been the first to really get the ride height sorted without porpoising. As such, they just look way smoother than anyone else.

Ferrari have had an excellent 6 days- great mileage and the new PU is powering 3 teams to decent lap times (on paper at least).

Merc are still looking for a sweet spot, Alpine had a tidy test but look slower than RBR and Ferrari, whilst McLaren looked visually very sound but have been hindered by brakes so hard to get a proper angle on them.

1. Verstappen: 1m31.720s, C5
2. Leclerc: 1m32.415s, C4
3. Alonso: 1m32.698s, C4
4. Russell: 1m32.759s, C5
5. Bottas: 1m32.985s, C3

Hmm

Bottas only 0.2 behind Russel on C3 vs. C5?
Times are not too comparable...
