Current record is 203 kph, they aim to put +15 kph on thet,

Isnt this fantastic, progress with foils from waterborne skis and boards and much more manageable wings than the original windsurfers

But yes, i'd have a comment:
why aren't they using the horizontal wing in ground effect? At speed, it would give virtually infinite righting moment.

Too unstable? A tilting mechanism could be installed between the wing and the body/sail, to dampen sudden excesses.

Would cause lift induced drag. They apparently get enough of the effect they need with a wheel. The rolling resistance would be trivial compared to aero lift required to keep the lead ballast aloft. They said something like up to 300 kilos in the vid?

Sure, but that wing creates some drag even when doing nothing. Basically, wasted energy.
Ideally, you would want to make something with it.
But, yeah, the wasted energy is probably so little that any change in design philosophy wouldn't be worth the effort.

It could still be used to stabilize the vehicle, though. Instead of bleeding off sudden gusts and slamming the pod, you could just increase the aerodynamic righting moment and keep accelerating.

it smashed through the 50 knot foil cavitation barrier to break the sailing speed record at 65.45 knots (121.2 km/h) over 500m.

Wow, that's the very definition of a niche sailing craft. Can only sail in one direction relative to the wind and only then in one place in the world. :lol:

If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
