If the upgrades work and are more in terms of pace than what RBR are bringing. If nothing changed from Miami I'd I've bet on Ferrari simply because of track layout and the harder tyres.

I reckon the straights will play into RB hands, however there isnt really as many twisty or technical bits where the power/torque is going to help pull the Ferrari out of the corners like we seen last week. Be interesting....especially if the upgrades work

With how the cars seem to be able to follow this year, this could actually be a good race; turn three will likely be very important if cars really are front limited by the tyres.

Nyck de Vries is driving for Williams FP1 on Fryday!

Nyck de Vries: Firstly, I’d really like to thank Williams for the opportunity to run in FP1. It’s great for me to get to know the team and drive the FW44, and also to get myself out on track during a Formula One weekend. Preparation for the test is going well so far and the team have been incredibly supportive of me. I’m very much looking forward to the whole experience in Spain now!
Dave Robson, Head of Vehicle Performance: We are looking forward to having Nyck de Vries in the car for FP1 as it is always good to work with a new driver and get a fresh opinion on the car's strengths and weaknesses. Nyck's experience and professionalism will be crucial on Friday as he will complete some of the key engineering tests in FP1 before he hands the car back to Alex for FP2.

Sven Smeets, Sporting Director: I’m looking forward to seeing Nyck join the team for FP1 at the Spanish Grand Prix. As he is a very talented and experienced driver I have no doubt that he’ll maximise his time in the FW44 and deliver a strong, capable performance for the team.

These two quite short straights will be not enough for RBR to gain lap time vs. Ferrari's cornering speed, imo.
If quali will end like Leclerc 1st + Max 2nd ( which I bet) then the one who will be ahead after T1 will win the race.

It might be time for Sainz to have his first pole position...

Is he any good? Junior career doesn't speak of any stellar achievements. In 2019 he became F2 champion beating Nicholas Latifi!!! His team mate was Nikita Mazepin!!!

He looked like the next big thing in Formula Renault then his career seemed to plateau a bit in GP3 and stall in F2.

However he was F2 champion eventually and I feel as F2 champion you deserve a crack at F1, even if it doesn’t work out you’ve earned the right to take a place on the grid. This where F1 needs a 2/3 more teams.

This is something that the pundits bring up year-on-year.
Tbh, I don’t think that there is time now during the race weekend for the top teams to be playing with a set-up purely for that section of the track (pre-season testing is another matter) to be able to draw any real conclusions about Monaco; the set-up for a quick lap or race pace would be too compromised.
