New rules this year, all teams have to run 2 non-full time drivers
Do you mean in general, at a certain point during the year? I was not aware of that.
For sure during the filming day they could have used Hamilton or Russel: Ferrari just did their filming day with Leclerc. I think it would have be a better idea for Mercedes to do the same. Lewis and George can give the best feedback in terms of how the modifications work in comparison to the "original" car.

Well it now seems that George drove it. Makes more sense this way

I read an article while on holiday a couple of weeks back, dont recall where but I think on F1 official site.
Here is a different article on it

Leclerc did the filming day for Ferrari in Monza last week.

It was written in September 2021 and it was about Friday practice. Evidently it did not happen...

Its on the F1 site here (One new addition to the Sporting Regulations for 2022 is the rule that mandates the use of rookie drivers on at least two occasions during first free practice this season)

https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/arti ... np9fG.html

But as you say, it may be old info, its from February, in which case I apologise for misleading.

you would think lewis being with the team so long, be jumping to be in the seat to test. Seems odd george did it. Maybe lewis declined?

Or maybe George is the future of the team?

Or maybe it simply didn’t matter who did it, as long as it was done. The more likely reason.

Lewis is not the testing type. Always avoids it when he can.

May be they are letting the driver in the points lead to drive the development of the car?

The full time drivers are the ones who have to live with this car. Not Stoffel. It seems like their input would be more valuable. Especially with Spain upcoming.

A 3rd drivers view may be useful to the team. Stof has been around the block a few times too so should know what he is talking about
