This came out a few years ago and does raise some associated questions
The shown design would probably break left right and centre but putting that aside the idea of different materials from the FIA rules is great and should be de rigeur,
Why limit materials ? The cost cap can deal with excesses and danger can be dealt with by OHS.
One area of potential to help with fuel efficiency is heat rejection.
Then there is weight, thermal stability, wear resistance and better tribological behaviour.
I have noticed that material, particularly metals, specifications have increased from more attention to grain size pre "smelting", whether it be conventional or 3D printing which can be akin to welding.
There is a new titanium that has had a major increase in tensile strength.
I am imagining similar advances could occur with non metals like ceramics, MMC's etc.
