Alpine A522

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

RB only extends the lower lip of the intake, so this new sidepod is more similar to AM and AT
Image

But the internals, i.e the rad and its flap look unchanged, so Alpine kept the sidepods undercut unchanged
Image

So they've just altered the intake, for now

It seems to be more like an add-on. They removed the small front part of the inlet and attached a bigger one that extends forward into a square-ish inlet. I think the parts behind the front black part of the inlet may be the same.

Think that's the whole point of all those pieces forming the puzzle, you can easily change one piece to make it different instead of making a much larger piece for the same size change.

The 'bargeboard' also looks much taller here (yellow) but maybe just an illusion

Hard to tell.

The front wing end plate looks to have 2 openning in it where the top 2 wings connect. not sure if that's an alusion or what.

Oh and the Miror seems to connect further out, not sure if actually furrther out or just the connector. The piece that pushes the air out bound that sits on the side pod is now detached from the mirror.

I’m impressed by that rear wing and how shallow it is - looks the shallowest of the bunch tbh. If they can still have the downforce they need to be thereabouts in the first two sectors then it’ll say something about the chassis.
