Rollercoaster Sachsenring FP1 starting now, well ahead of F1 as usual
"I'll show em" Miller quickest with a 1:21.479
Rins riding with his newly broken arm ! will he continue?
Fabio Quatarraro with a modified (cobbled?) swingarm
Apologies if this has been posted before, some interesting facts behind personell additions
re MotoGP wings etc .....
because the wing on the inside of the corner is rather blocked by the rider's body ....
the anhedral ('drooped') wing helps because (relative to a 'flat' wing) .....
the outside wing 'DF' angle advantageously contributes relatively more centripetal force and less centrifugal force
outweighing the inside wing's smaller opposite and disadvantageous effect
'flat' wing DF benefits at bike lean angles less than 45 deg
anhedral wing DF benefits are greater - and can continue at bike lean angles over 45 deg
ie this anhedral benefit is greatest ....
with low tyre grip eg wet track ... and/or ....
when high speed or acceleration is reducing front wheel load
yes it's also interesting to hear about the non-wing DF in MotoGP
FP2 at the Sachsenring
Pecco Bagnaia first with a 1:20.018
Rins did continue with the double broken wrist! ending up a highly creditable 11th
Ducati are running an external flywheel which can be optioned, apparently a 7/10 effect on acceleration with a corresponding 3/10 on engine braking. This would be more difficult to fit on the I4's
First 4 of 5 bikes are ducati and all 5 are uses L block engine layout. I didn't look general order at different tracks but I started to ask myself that if it is the time for L blocks feom power wise
FP4 Race runs at the Sachsenring, German GP 2022
Fabio Quartararo quickest with a 1:21.065 in a session with a few crashes that showed as much as anything it was matching and managing the asymmetric tyre compounds with very high track temperatures of around 50C
Rins not continuing with his double break wrist.
Jorge Martin quickest in the warmup and still recovering from recent arm surgery needing assistance to take his gloves off.
In the Aprilia camp, Espargaro, A is using a manual ride height devices and Vinales is using an automatic which I assume is GPS guided ??
Track temps around 52C and most are going hard/hard tyres

Zarco with a well deserved second, that how far behind
Aussie grit Miller third after serving a long lap penalty
And Vinales auto rear ride height device failed causing a DNF
It seems we will never have a ducati champion... They crash so often
Casey Stoner won his 1st MotoGP World Championship riding a Ducati of course,
so it won't be a matter of if, just of - by who, how & when - it'll happen again...
"Well, we knocked the bastard off!"
Ed Hilary on being 1st to top Mt Everest,
(& 1st to do a surface traverse across Antarctica,
in good Kiwi style - riding a Massey Ferguson farm
tractor - with a few extemporised mod's to hack the task).
