Just checking that the deadline is in 6 hours, not 30 hours... using 24:00 as the time is liable for this kind of confusion :D
Being 9hours behind official timing has not helped aaand, I missed the deadline #-o

Also, updated to the latest parts and solver and I get a new error...
Seems to be related to the exhaust outlet boundary condition:

Code: Select all

SigFpe : Enabling floating point exception trapping (FOAM_SIGFPE).
fileModificationChecking : Monitoring run-time modified files using timeStampMaster (fileModificationSkew 10)

Not sure if this is an issue, maybe just a PSA, but I'm getting very different numbers between the "MVRC Fast" and "MVRC" templates. Almost 30% difference in CL. In the past it was not such a big difference for me. Maybe my floor is just more sensitive to the mesh than the old one...

did you run them for the same number of iterations? The difference between 1k and 2k iterations was in the region of an additional -0.5Cl on my floor on the same mesh. I must admit I've not run a non 'fast' simulation yet

2500 vs 2000 but that's not the issue, downforce was much higher on "MVRC" all the way through the run.

From my experience this is the typical difference between fast and standard template.

Mate, you made me freak out. The deadline is yet to be hit.
The original deadline was sunday evening (as usual), but the mail titled "DELAYED!" talked about two days of delay.
Interesting that I haven't receive any email, probably my team hasn't registered successfully. Anyway my car is not ready to be submitted tonight. In this regards, AFAIR there was an option last season, that gives the chance to be used once for the whole season for later sending of the stl files. Is it still available for this season and how much time it will give?
I was asked to confirm my registration through a mail. Maybe you missed that and did not finalize your registration?

Further 2 days delay by using that option. Yes, it's still in the rules. You must mail the organizers before the deadline (which is in a few hours) to claim the option.

Yeah, I mean, it doesn't seem unreasonable, but on the old (2020 version) of mflow I did not see a big difference between the two.

In 2020 the big difference was the absence of some vortices in the floor/diffuser when then simulation was set as "fast". I did not investigate what happens with the 2022 car, but I suppose the behaviour might be similar (actually I did not investigate the vortices underfloor in general this year, but I will do for the next race).

Yes, I think that's probably still true. A lot of the downforce is from the two big vortices in the diffuser tunnels. It looks like we are also running a slightly higher ride height this year? I think that is exacerbating the difference in the mesh.

I just loaded my STLs into paraview with a strip of floor I extruded and enabled ray tracing :D surprisingly effective way of getting (kinda)nice renders
Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look.

There we go! Quick render to introduce the car. A proper review will follow, sooner or later.

I'm relatively happy with it, but there's still a lot of room for improvements.

On a second thought, i'm not so happy anymore. See that little Gurney Flap on the front wing? It was untested, and i've just found out that instead of bringing the CoP forward by a little bit, it moved it by 1/3 of a meter. And it also ruined cooling.
These cars are sooooo sensitive!
My first race will be all about damage control...

I accept this message as you pulling the late delay card. Now you still have almost a day to go. This night, I need your submission.
I will send you the submission link as DM.
