I never noticed the floor ridge before. Could Alpine be using using the ridge as a replacement for the ice skate next season?

I don't think so, they attatched that tongue that sticks out the side of the floor to the skate in that last update.

Another water leak DNF, that's probably Alonso's 5th. I know Ocon has had a few...I can't believe that many would be PU related. Could it be some part of chassis that water is running from the PU to the rads?

"A major problem is the water pump, it has handicapped us recurrently [...] the somewhat innovative design is probably not adapted, so we will change & go to something a little more classic & robust"
"They've made quite a bit of gain in aero. What we'll lose a little bit in compactness here, we'll pick up very easily in aero & we should correct a huge part of the flaws." Rossi

And usually they sit low on the right side of the engine.

But how could the water pump impact aero? I guess if it's too big it can increase the width of the PU at the bottom and widen the 'boat' shape and make the underbody tunnels smaller... but those pumps are usually small... they sit in the shadow of the lower PU/tub mounting points.

So maybe Rossi is talking about the overall size of the full water pump assembly / water circuit, with the piping, the ancillaries etc (& the radiators?)...

We learned from the Saudi gp that the water pump was inside the block. The DNF there was the pump had dislodged in the PU, on it's first race.

And they can be even steeper, with 'horizontal' exhaust manifolds, like MP4-26

Funny, I thought it would be electrical. I was thinking a little fan that could run on double A batteries amount of power.

Maybe it's inside the V to save space.

By inside the block, I understood to be inside the water channels.
