Can’t see it myself as who else is there? They tried Petrobras and that went awry
With the ridiculous amounts of money oil companies are currently making I’m rather surprised at this, maybe there is someone else lined up
It's just that small logo at the back right?
I think it's responsible for the blue color as well.

I don't think so. Gulf only joined in mid 2020 and the MCL35 had blue in the livery from launch. The livery colours won't be affected by this (which I'm personally happy with, the papaya and blue is unique on the grid, there's other silver and red cars with teams which are more synonymous with those colours).

Anyone know what McLaren were trying with downshifts at Abu Dhabi?.. In the race Lando was downshifting quite early, really pushing the rev limiter. He was actively told through the race to watch his downshift timing. PU sounded very different to Daniel's car, were they maybe testing something with the gearbox for next year?

The blue that debuted on the MCL35 is a deeper, glossier blue. The MCL36 has a lighter pastel blue which is often seen on gulf liveried cars.

My guess would be they were trying to stay off the brakes as much as possible and or saving fuel.

It does exclude others from sharing space though. Some do not want to be seen together.
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

The team is renting a track in Barcelona for private testing, and it looks like Oscar will be riding the old chassis.

Pretty sure a RB18B could still win the WDC&WCC by Las Vegas

Very true. In relatively recent times good examples of this were the likes of the professional services firms (e.g. KPMG and Accenture) or the pharmaceuticals (e.g. GSK's brands) being unable to have their logos placed on the car in close physical proxiity with the oil majors (e.g. ExxonMobil) or the say the tobacco brands (e.g. BAT).

Just saw an article where Zak Brown addressed Porsche links to McLaren for 2026. I didn't even know there were any links, anything credible reported recently?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Well look at that, Lando finally comes out and confirms that the McLaren’s have consistently had crap front ends for years now!

Norris reckons the team’s chances of securing best of the rest were hurt by a car that doesn’t have enough front end grip.

“It’s just our car,” he told Sky Sports, “the characteristics of the car. The things we struggled with, the car doesn’t have enough front. For me all I need is front. I don’t need rear tyres.

“But when I have front we can be quick.
“As soon as we destroy the front tyres, we were seconds off, of half a second, or one second off. So it’s just the characteristic that the car relies on too much.

But we know all of this. We’ve known it, it’s just been something we’ve had for years sadly and it’s our job to get rid of that for next season.

Doesn’t the initial Mercedes engine deal run until the end of 2024? I appreciate this could be me putting 2+2=4 however you’d suspect Zak is exploring the Porsche and any other manufacturers before considering an extension with Mercedes engines
