We are definitely dealing in speculation now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

That said, Christian and Helmet seemed thrilled to have Daniel back in the family, so they clearly still rate him highly.

I understand it's just some promotional Honda stuff. I just can't help flinching anytime an F1 driver gets near something that's not an F1 car because of Kubica...

nowadays contracts are strict on what driver is allowed to do you cant even play silly things like tennis

How much aero for next years car has usually been done by end of October? Asking since that's the start of the 12 month budget cap aero penalty for Red Bull. I've got the feeling RB were trying to delay the conclusion a bit as start of the penalty a bit later in the year would have less of an impact on start spec of next years car.

Probably since the FIA first told them they were in breach. We haven’t had any updates since Singapore

We can start from the default presumption that teams organize their budget to allow the windtunnel to operate year-round outside of mandatory shutdown.

If we note that the last non-trivial update to the RB18 was in Spa (which would have been a windtunnel session from up to 2 months prior), then it would be possible for RB to have had the 2023 car in the windtunnel before the summer break. So basically that '23 car would have been in the windtunnel since June.

RB had already began to turn away from aero development with the RB18 as they were focused on a lightweight chassis which never arrived due to budget. Since the windtunnel is always operating, then the only thing that could have been there is the RB19.

It wouldn't matter when the penalty kicked in. It would anyway hurt for a 12 month period. Whether RB spend all their allocated WT on air time within one month or twelve, it's up to them. There is no weekly or monthly allocations. So they can continue what they are doing and then adjust the spend a little more wisely.

It might cost them a few upgrades down the season in 2023 or for the start of 2024 challenger, RB20, depending upon where they want to take a bit of hit. I don't think it would cost them up front in 2023 challenger, RB19. If they can compromise on late season RB19 upgrades, then they can do the usual work for RB20.
