They aren't going to outdevelop AM, RB, Ferrari with just 3 tenths. Those teams will likely have 1-2 tenths (minimum) so the relative improvement might not show.

Ferrari has said they'll find 0.4 at Jeddah/Melbourne with FW upgrade

Russell visibly frustrated at losing out to his teammate and rightly so, you need that winning mentality.

I hoped Hamilton would pass Sainz, he just didn't have the traction, it was painful watching his onboard, I've seen cars with more traction on inters.

Russell need to stop being obsessed with beating Lewis otherwise he'll become Ocon 2022.
You are right the car looked really sluggish on the slow part/corner exit.

Quote of the day: "Mercedes as fast as an Aston Martin.... driven by Lance Stroll..... with broken wrists...."

George made a bit of a fool of himself today: "Lewis was slow" , while he was even slower #-o
They favoured Hamilton in both pitstop phases which allowed Russell to be undercut twice. That's why Russell ended up behind stroll
As they should, HAM was the lead Mercedes.

Besides, RUS had 2 stints to catch up and overtake HAM, and he failed to do so. He was noticeably slower on the Hards.

It's a good point. He had fresher tires and I'm not sure he was closing the gap to Hamilton at the end.

His post race radio can be done by ChatGPT
Lol! This actually made me laugh cuz I can totally see what you mean. However, his words is quite common in most sports, in that sports team leaders try to maintain and keep the team positivity flowing -- especially if it's being heard by the public -- while being objectively realistic (interviews) to help improve. I'm sure he also brings out the stick (ie. more objectively harsher) behind the scenes so no one gets complacent. Perfectly normal. The worst he can do is disparage his team etc because, among other things, the public would crucify him.

In stark contrast, we all know Max has a very bad temper who will gladly tell team radio to f-- off in public if he doesn't get his way, which has garnered him a very bad reputation and hurts his public image.

They will be both obsessed about beating each other. You know when one is happy by their radio call post race.

There can only be one top dog, to be that you have to beat your teammate.

Russell made a remark about the roles being reversed had he made a better start, I think he's right.

Maybe he had the pace to beat Sainz, not that it would be that great of an achievement, they are nowhere at the end of the day.

I hope he keeps thinking that. He doesnt realize that Lewis is managing the whole stint and focusing on the AMR and the Ferrari of Sainz.
For Sure!!

Has Russell been having a dig in an interview? Hamilton was slow in at the start of the first stint and undoubtedly held Russell up which put him under pressure from the AM's, frustrating I know but it is what it is. He's got the pace and that's the positive he should be thinking of.

Agreed! Yikes! Curious, historically, when these teams talk upgrades and they come (e.g. last year if u were keeping tabs), is it apparent in subsequent races? Granted, if everyone brings upgrades it would be hard to know/see. I am just curious if a team's predictions on upgrades ever actually equate to visible on-track performance boosts vs rivals. Or if teams downplay the upgrade #s so when it comes it is much more impressive on track -- possibly to not give competitors any real details.
