Only a new floor? How can one small upgrade give such a big step forward? James Key talked about a huge amount of time. If it gives 7 tenths then it is a big step but can a new floor only do that?
As PhillipM said, it's the most important part of these new regulations. McLaren got hurt by the rule change late last year, meaning their design doesn't seal the floor as well as others and therefore lose downforce. They redesigned it around the rule tweak, and by their words it's yielding a huge boost in performance. We might see some small tweaks to the front wing and floor fences too, just to manipulate the air to compliment this new floor design.

Surely everyone is aware the cat isn't at where the team want it, and gave plans in place. So bashing it, is just pretty daft.

But, its also pretty clear the basic model they have isn't quite the doom and gloom as first predicted

Well since you suggested that bring slowest on the straights was aero related, I suspect it is obvious already you were *hurling* yourself at conclusions

🤣🤣🤣

Fair summation imho. Rather looking forward to Baku. Even if it’s not a stellar jump but a decent performance upgrade, at least we will hopefully get to the guys ahead and fight for P5/P6 this season on merit

I don't know what you were expecting.. these floors are the primary df generator of these current gen cars, a major shift in floor philosophy is a major shift in itself.

I'm sure we will be looking at the edge of Q3, but considering this is the "slow" car I'm very pleased with what I see so far.

It’s just not efficient df. If the floor brings that much more df then they can back the wings off slightly. Increasing aero efficiency no end

Hey at least they've got downforce in corners for that drag. 5th fastest with the slowest straight line speed. Just need some efficiency and they'll be at the sharp end of the grid.
