Guru Johl Chief Aerodynamicist (No. 2) for Aston Martin has left and joined Alpha Tauri as Deputy Head of Aero.
That's a bit of a surprise. He came from Red Bull and has now left AM after some other Red Bull engineers joined the team.
How long was he at AMR? He's basically back in the "RB fold" now.

I mean... I wanted to say as an elegant way to get rid of James Keys conservatism and lack of courage in the design choiches of the car that is starting to hamper Mclaren.
No way. Many of the cars that have been designed under Key's direction at STR, Sauber and Mclaren featured many bold technical solutions and even innovations. There is a long list. And the 2022 Mclaren had some couragaous design choices, like the super slim splitter, the pullrods at the front/pushrods at the rear, the monocoque shape etc). So the problem is not conservatism, but maybe wrong choices...
To be fair, Key himself described the 22 effort as too conservative, saying that he had kicked himself as they had thought of the designs they saw on the leading cars but decided to play it safe as he didn't think he'd validated them enough.

I had the impression it was more recently 😃, but it was in 2015 when he joined Force India. Before he was nearly 11 years at Red Bull.

This is a gossip from Franco Nugnes (Motor Sport Italy) last week. Nothing is confirmed.
https://www.sportstiger.com/news/ferrar ... on-reports

As reported by Sky Germany, among the targets is Enrico Balbo, the Red Bull aerodynamic manager. He has been with the company since January 2018, having been in-charge of aerodynamic development for 19 months and head of aerodynamics for 25 months before that. The engineer has worked with Mercedes and Williams in the past. It was confirmed last week that Ferrari Race Director Laurent Mekies will be leaving the team to take Franz Tost's role at AlphaTauri as Team Principal.

The move has undoubtedly caused some tension between Ferrari and Red Bull. Despite the tension, both parties are expected to come to an agreement soon. Ferrari wants their new talent on board as soon as possible, with the 2024 single-seater project already underway.

Ferrari is reportedly using Mekies' resignation as leverage in negotiations with Red Bull for a discount on Balbo's gardening period in exchange for the same treatment with Mekies, if reports are to be believed further. A Corriere dello Sport journalist Fulvio Solms revealed the news, “One could be Enrico Balbo, head of aerodynamics in Milton Keynes and, therefore, a really good engineer who can make a difference when you have him in your team.”

Ferrari, for its part, already has some Red Bull engineers on its hook. Reports in Italy that Aero boss Enrico Balbo
is said to be among them are apparently fiction instead of truth.

The McLaren rumour was for both Fallows and Prodromou. Horner somehow walked back Fallows.

Yes, and that's the problem. The situation is very fluid.
