Hi everybody.

An old MVRC competitor, who is trying to re-enter the challenge, asked me help about modeling. I was happy to help him, but since I shared the geometry of the 2022 car (Race02) with him, I am sharing the same STL file with everyone here, in fairness to the other teams.

It is with great pleasure that we can now present:
The results of the first race of MVRC 2023

Many have improved a lot with the new tyres, but who has improved the most ?
Not me, clearly.

Great results for many , I expected the failures in many aspects next race should be much better in all aspects btw in terms of cooling and top speed I am kind of confused why Panthera has much lower top speed then the front runners as he as enough cooling as well as less drag . btw Insane performance by Graph that is incredible -6cl like tff :D.

After looking through I am pretty confident the cooling requirements were left at 3.0 instead of the reduced 2.8 that should be fixed for sure.

When I saw the performance at the top I was genuinely in awe. Well done to everyone as the level seems to have stepped up far.

I'm curious about the legality of G-Raph's winglet at the rear of the floor edge. I don't see how it gets around the closed sections rules.

Oof...that's a big mistake on my end, sorry. Luckily it did not change the results.

Difficult to comment, G-Raph's performance, despite a non-legal detail, leaves me speechless, congratulations!

CAEdevice car is aligned with expectations (minus 10% downforce probably due to 4000 iterations instead of 2500) except for the cooling flow, which is significantly lower... hope to see the simulation soon. For the moment I ask the staff to confirm that the difference between the standard and long MVRC template is only in the number of iterations, with the same mesh.

EDIT: Simulation recevied just now. Thanks LDVH.

7th is about all I expected before the race, the car was definitely not fully ready ahead of R01. Pretty much an entirely new car is coming for R02 so hopefully a bit more in the mix. -6Cl is ludicrous, congrats GRaph

After 1.0 power additional points dont bring speed right

Also are we sure Lateral g is calculated correctly it seems odd to me that a car double my first cars CL only pulls 0.5 more gs

OK, that was a great race with a surprising result. I thank the whole staff as the video is once more just great.
After someone new wins, I get a lot of messages, this time much more than usual. I would like to clarify a few points:
  • Race 1 is done and over.
  • Things can slip through scrutineering.
  • Design elements that made it through scrutineering for one race, are not automatically legal in following races.
  • There is a very good chance, that violations regarding rules 12.3 & 12.4 will lead to penalties in the next race!

Somehow there is an issue with teams that have a gmail.com email address. I will sort it out...

The random throttle lifts mid straight for Max strike me as a bit odd, is that an expected artifact?

Yeah that's normal. The sim tends to do that rather than a partial lift. Just means I had slightly too much speed / not enough grip for the corner.

You can see for example at 2500 meters everyone has throttle oscillations. Obviously real drivers would not to that, it's just how the sim interprets partial throttle.

Ayrton Senna's technique

Not my video, but I was there, first time I saw (and heard) F1 cars.
