Singapore RW with the new beamwing brought @ Zandvoort. The new beamwing resulted in roughly +5km/h topspeed advantage @ Zandvoort. Could see this repeat at Qatar.

Yes RB have now 3 beamwings as opposed to just 2.

High DF - first seen at pre-season testing

Image

Low DF - First seen at Saudi. Also privately used at Silverstone shakedown prior to this

Image

Medium DF (but used only with high DF wing so far) - Image

At Singapore they used the max DF rear wing but opted to use the Bahrain spec beamwing. This makes me assume the Bahrain BW produces more DF than the new one.

Going by the zandvoort telemetry and lack of usage at Singapore where the longest straight is now DRS closed, I would estimate that the new BW gives up a bit of peak DF for a massive increase in DRS open efficiency.

I've estimated that increase in efficiency at about +5km/h topspeed as prior to Zandvoort RB were always matching Mercedes, McLaren and others' topspeeds when Maximum downforce rear wings were used. Then at Zandvoort everyone again used this DF level and RB with new BW produced +5km/h on straight with DRS open (but equal with drs closed) compared to the competition

Qatar will produce another data point

I wouldn't be so sure that they have given up some load with the Zandvoort beam wing because Verstappen's minimum apex speeds are pronounced and superior in Zandvoort relative to Hungary (in the medium and high speed corners).

It's almost like Hungary is where the car had less downforce but there were some upgrades in between so maybe I'm conflating factors...

That's a really nice comparison, it's basically a low-drag BW with a slot. The frontal area is a key drag parameter with BWs. No wonder they had one up on top speed with it.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

That yellow arrow is a bit deceiving. The air from that duct will go along the ouside of the endplate. In case that yellow arrow was correct, the end plate would very much be inside the tyre.

Just shadow there's no tunnel or changes since Suzuka apart from more open louvres from what I can see

Same car in pitlane yesterday from different angle

What about that area left of "Pir" on tyre ? Looks as there's an outlet just there (mostly obscured by tyre periphery) to "vent" into the flow path coming along the sidepod undercut.

I haven't seen that before.

Needs another shot of it to get decent modelling of shape etc.

The area of the left of the "Pir" is where some of the telemetry transmitting electronics are placed. Needs to be easily accessible as it doesn't have much memory so they have to switch them out for each session. The removable panel is made of a different material as it has to be permeable to the EM waves of specific frequencies hence it stands out/reflects light differently. It's only present on one sidepod and on Thursdays often is open/empty

Here it is on the rb19 on Thursday Bahrain open & empty (📸 Fabrega)

Image

And here with a clear shot of the panel covered which is how it is in every proper session

Shades of blown diffuser era. Adrian wishes they would let him run the car like that...

Yep, you've noticed too the importance of that placement :D

Vital, it seems, is that virtual channel coming down from under the intake area of sidepod to scroll itself along the main pod undercut in establishing the same type of flow structure inside the rear wheel. It's here that the others didn't start with such detail in 2022 chasis, and now trying to catch up with RB.

Many changes are coming to grid on competitiors in this area now.

Notice too, just how fish like that sidepod structure is (main section with Oracle legend on it) with its flow from front mouth to rear conclusion just in front of wheel is ?

Experts in hydrodynamic evolution your average fish :D along with fluid dynamic focus. It has the front facing mouth, belly underslung to house the lower parts of cooling hardware, and all within, it appears, a very economic/ evolutionary shape.
